Orbit is a professional networking app for business. You capture the people you meet, keep notes so you can follow up, and share a digital card others can save. This page explains what we collect, why we collect it, and who we share it with. We wrote it in plain English so you can actually read it.
It covers the Orbit iPhone app, the Orbit App Clip, Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets, and the public card pages at getorbit.link.
Orbit is an independent app operated from Queensland, Australia. For a privacy question, or to ask what we hold about you, email hello@orbitnetworking.app. We answer privacy requests within 30 days.
If you are not happy with how we handle your information, you can also complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
You can create an account with email and password, Sign in with Apple, or Google. We store the sign-in details that service gives us (such as your email and a stable account id), plus the profile you build: name, job title, company, phone, website, LinkedIn, Instagram, other links you add, and any photo or company logo you upload. That profile is what can appear on your digital card. You choose what goes on it.
When you add someone, we store what you enter about them: name, title, company, contact details, where you met, notes, voice recordings and transcripts, photos of their card, follow-up status, reminders, and messages you log. You are responsible for having a proper reason to keep that information, and for following the privacy law that applies to you.
Events you create (name, dates, place, goals), pipeline status, and any note you send us from Settings, then Feedback. Feedback is tied to your account so we can reply.
Orbit only uses a permission after you allow it. You can turn any of them off in iOS Settings. That feature stops. The rest of the app keeps working.
| Permission | What it is used for |
|---|---|
| Camera | Scanning business cards, badges, and QR codes. |
| Microphone | Recording a voice note after a conversation. |
| Speech recognition | Turning that voice note into text on the device, using Apple. |
| Photos | Picking a card photo, a headshot, or a company logo you already have. |
| Contacts | Saving someone into your address book, only when you ask. |
| Notifications | Follow-up reminders you set. |
| Location | Orbit does not track you in the background. Location is only used to pick an event venue on the map. |
Lock Screen QR, Live Activities, and Home Screen widgets show your name, role, and QR on this iPhone. That data stays in an App Group on the device. We do not use those surfaces to follow you around.
When someone opens your public card we count simple events (viewed, contact saved, details sent back, Get Orbit tapped) so you can see if the card is doing its job. We do not use that for ads.
We also keep short diagnostic logs when something fails (for example a save error), App Check tokens that prove the request came from the real Orbit app, and a push token so we can deliver the reminders you asked for.
Public card pages do not use advertising cookies. The hosting provider may see standard web logs such as IP address, browser, and time of request, for security and to keep the site up.
We do not sell your information. We do not use it for advertising.
Some features send contact details to Google Gemini. We ask before that happens. In signup the button is Agree and continue. In the app it is the same idea: you agree once. After that, AI stays on for that account. Scan, voice, drafts, and Orbit Assistant need it.
When an AI feature runs, we may send Google:
Google returns a result to Orbit. We configure this path so your content is not used to train Google’s models, under Google’s current Gemini API terms. If those terms change, we will update this page and tell you in the app if it matters.
This is not an on/off switch per feature. If you no longer want this processing, delete your account in Settings.
We use a small set of providers to run Orbit. They only get what they need to do that job.
| Provider | What they do | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Database, sign-in, and file storage. This is where your Orbit data lives. | South Asia (Mumbai) |
| Google Cloud (Gemini) | AI results, only after you agree, as described above. | United States |
| Google Firebase | App Check, so requests come from the genuine app. | United States |
| Vercel | Hosting public cards at getorbit.link. | Global edge network |
| Apple | Sign in with Apple, speech, App Store billing, and notifications. | Per Apple’s policy |
| Google (sign-in) | If you choose Google to create or open your account. | Per Google’s policy |
Some of these are outside Australia, so your information may be processed overseas. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
Your digital card is public on purpose. Anyone with the link or QR can see the fields you publish. Notes, the people you captured, your events, and your card analytics are never on that page.
If someone sends their details back from your card, those details come to you as a lead. The page tells them that is what will happen. We do not sell those details.
If a public card looks wrong, abusive, or not yours to publish, use Report this card on the page, or email hello@orbitnetworking.app. We review reports within 24 hours.
Data is encrypted in transit. Your session is stored in the iOS Keychain. Database rules mean only your account can read your rows. Private files (card photos, voice, contact images) sit in private storage, not a public folder. No product is perfectly safe. We cannot promise absolute security.
We keep your information while the account is open. After you delete, we remove it from live systems promptly, and from encrypted backups within 30 days. We may keep a thin record where the law requires it (for example a billing event with the user id removed).
Orbit is a business tool. It is not for children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you think a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.
If we change this policy in a way that actually affects you, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect.
